This article seems to liken guns with landmines. While landmines are indiscriminate killers, a gun is nothing more than inanimate. A firearm in the wrong hands can be dangerous, but the criminal makes the crime, not the implement. The lack of a gun also does not make a situation any less lethal, as these gangs of rapists can use machetes and sticks to facilitate their violence.
