Brief professional history: am a PhD student in sociology at IUPERJ, a postgraduate centre in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. My research topic is a comparative study of different kinds of prosecution and sentencing systems for the crime of homicide. One of the main point in my ongoing doctoral research deals specifically with the time lapse of each procedural phase in the criminal justice system and how this affects impunity. I've been working on this subject since I finished my graduation in Public Administration and Law, in 2000. After graduating, I completed a Master´s degree in public policies and my research was focused on female prisons.
